LBS Financial Credit Union Donates School Supplies and Playground Equipment to Stephen Foster Elementary in Lakewood
Lakewood, CA – October 17, 2022 – LBS Financial Credit Union delivered over 6,000 school supplies and playground equipment to Stephen Foster Elementary in Lakewood on October 5, 2022 as their adopted school in Bellflower Unified School District for this year.
A wish list of items needed was collaborated on between former Principal Dr. Deidre Reyes and the teachers in every grade at the end of the last school year. Their wish list included a variety of classroom supplies including a paper shredder, large paper cutters, white boards for students, playground equipment, Tonka toys for preschoolers, a variety of school supplies, and more. During August, LBS Financial promoted the school supply drive with credit union members and employees at their Lakewood branch location, on their social media, and website. Members and employees donated new school supplies during the month the credit union also purchased thousands of dollars’ worth of supplies to fulfill the list.
“On behalf of Stephen Foster Elementary School, I want to say how thankful and appreciative we are for the donations provided by LBS Financial,” said current Principal Tasneem Muhammad. “Our teachers and students will benefit greatly from the generous donations of all the wonderful items that they received.”
This is LBS Financial’s eleventh year of adopting a school in Bellflower USD. LBS Financial also adopted two additional schools in ABCUSD and LBUSD this year. The credit union delivered the school supplies to Burbank Elementary in late September, and plans to deliver school supplies for Dooley Elementary later this month.
