LBS Financial Credit Union Donates School Supplies to Garfield Elementary in Long Beach
Long Beach, CA – October 16, 2023 – LBS Financial Credit Union delivered thousands of school supplies to Garfield Elementary in Long Beach on September 20, 2023.
LBS Financial adopts a different school in the Long Beach Unified School District every year and works with the principal to receive a wish list of items needed for students and classrooms. Garfield’s wish list included a variety of items like art supplies, backpacks, crayons, erasers, markers, notebooks, thesauruses, toys and more. Also included in their list was chain link fence signage from Put-In-Cups, spelling out “Tigers,” their school mascot. During August, LBS Financial promoted a school supply drive and shared Garfield Elementary’s wish list with credit union members and employees at their Long Beach branch locations. The school supply drive was also featured on their social media and company website. Members and employees donated new school supplies during the month and the Credit Union also purchased thousands of dollars’ worth of supplies to fulfill the list, including the new fence signage.
“Thank you LBS Financial for your generous donations of much-needed school supplies,” said Garfield Principal Monica Alas. “We feel so fortunate that the community of Long Beach fundraised on behalf of Garfield. We are looking forward to displaying our Tigers [school mascot] Put-In-Cups in a few weeks and continuing to support our partners at LBS Financial.”
This is LBS Financial’s thirteenth year of adopting a school in Long Beach Unified School District. LBS Financial also adopted two additional schools in ABCUSD and Bellflower USD and delivered their school supplies during the month of September.
